This is the sound of Aberdeen Harbour recorded at Pocra Quay in Footdee, a former fishing village. Aberdeen is one of the few cities in the world where the harbour is actually in the middle of the city. At Pocra Quay, if you turn your back to the north sea and face the harbour and the city, it’s like you’re conducting a huge orchestra, except you have no control over the sounds of the reversing trucks, the cranes, people talking, tools being dropped, machine operating.
