Why do I want to participate?

I work a lot with field recordings and am very interested in listening, how we think about listening and what it means for wider culture. I also like being surprised and I'm looking forward to hearing what you've got up your sleeve.

in a small town, high in the canadian rockies, a cargo train rattles through every hour. it sounds the horn to warn animals who gather on the tracks (this is a national park). they are there to eat the grain that falls from these trucks running between the prairies and the coast. sometimes you can hear coyotes howling back at the train horn, perhaps signalling their one eyed rattling god of death. or perhaps not. this sound was recorded halfway up a mountain and there’s a huge reverb from the valley as the train pulls through, activating the space.
