Noise Intercepted Collaborators

Alejandra Vera - Visual Artist

Why do I want to participate?

I have taken one sound class before and I have been interested in it ever since. I haven't done many sound pieces in my art practice so I think this will be the perfect opportunity to experiment, and it sounds very fun!

My fridge in a public spaceNoise Challenge #2: The Little Things

The fridge, a sound found in all houses that is hardly paid attention to. I did an experiment recording my fridge and I played it from a locker in a hallway with the purposes of seeing the reaction to this well known sound in a public space. Unfortunately the camera seem to attract more attention than the sound. I guess my experiment wasn’t a 100% successful but it was and interesting experience.

Off-white noiseNoise Challenge #1: The Pulse

Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, and is filled with government workers trying their best to keep out of trouble. The atmosphere is stuffy, and proper, and silent; even at rush hour everything has a strange muted quality. It being winter probably doesn’t help either.

The  sounds of this city are the sounds of a million people going about their days. Each person adds their own unique sound to part of the spectrum, and, except for the occasional offbeats, I find myself surrounded by static.
